Active Case Finding

ZMQ has devised a strategy called Active Case Finding for detection and diagnosis of TB in the community. This method is done by household visits and systematic identification of people with suspected active TB using tests, examinations or other procedures that can be applied rapidly.
Those who are screened positive, it is important to refer them to health facilities for testing by establish diagnostic tests and other assessment methods. Some of the possible TB risks groups who should be screened for TB are the following:

  • Households who are in close contact with TB patients

  • People living with HIV

  • Workers ever worked with industries more prone to silica exposure like Cement, Brick, Stone Crushing and Mining etc.

  • Heavy traffic areas with high footfalls such as bus stand, railway stations, village festivals etc.
