FreedomTB is a holistic technology-linked model to combat Tuberculosis. It is a multi-level initiative using a 360 degree approach. The program has various component like creating awareness & behaviour change communication, TB case finding, patient level adherence & self-management of treatment, treatment management by empowering & training of health workers & DOT providers, community-led supervision & control, and ground assessment. FreedomTB initiative is based on ZMQ’s fully-technology linked development which effectively uses the ubiquity of cell-phone penetration.
FreedomTB is a system changing bottom-up model, where the patients are part of the solution design. It also engages the communities in creating conducive environment for active testing, adherence and treatment. The community-led model also provides assistive support to patients during the treatment. It also helps in building knowledge networks within the communities.
